Progress Report: Collaboration and Achievements of the Seniors4Change Project
We are pleased to share the latest developments in the Seniors4Change project, explicitly focusing on Work Package 2 (WP2): “Best Practices and Focus Groups on Sustainable DIY Practices”.
From December 2023 to March 2024, all partners have worked diligently across the participating five countries—Austria, Bulgaria, France, Greece, and Portugal—to gather and document the most inspiring sustainable DIY practices among senior communities. The collected practices reflect diverse activities, from urban gardening and upcycling to traditional crafts and food preservation. These practices highlight the ecological benefits and showcase the rich knowledge and skills that seniors contribute to creating a sustainable future.
Key Achievements
- Collection of Best Practices: Project partners identified five exemplary sustainable DIY practices in each participating country. These were documented, highlighting the methods, resources, and environmental impacts. The practices were selected based on their innovation, sustainability, and potential to inspire others.
- Focus Groups and Community Engagement: To ensure that the collected practices resonate with broader senior communities, focus groups were conducted in each country. These sessions provided valuable insights into the motivations, challenges, and needs of seniors engaged in sustainable DIY activities. The feedback gathered is instrumental in refining our approach to training and knowledge-sharing.
- Collaboration and Knowledge Exchange: WP2 has fostered strong collaboration among project partners, enabling the exchange of ideas and best practices across borders. This cross-cultural collaboration is at the heart of Seniors4Change, enriching the project with diverse perspectives and approaches to sustainability.
Next Steps
The insights and practices collected during WP2 will be compiled into a comprehensive training manual. This manual will serve as a key resource for seniors, offering practical guidance on sustainable DIY activities and digital literacy. Additionally, the manual will be made accessible through our E-Learning platform, facilitating continuous learning and engagement.
We are excited about the progress made in WP2 and look forward to the project’s next phase, where we will continue to work closely with our partners and senior communities to promote sustainability and intergenerational learning.
Stay tuned for more updates as we progress in this meaningful journey towards a greener and more sustainable Europe!
