As part of the Seniors4Change project, KMOP Education and Innovation Hub successfully implemented three engaging training sessions at an elderly day care centre in Athens, Greece. Held on January 23rd, March 21st, and March 28th, 2025, these sessions provided 10 senior participants with hands-on experience in climate awareness, DIY practices, social media, and digital content creation.
Each session, lasting four hours, focused on different aspects of the S4C curriculum:
- Session 1 introduced concepts related to climate change, sustainability, Do-It-Yourself (DIY) practices, and social media. As many participants were new to these topics, the session provided a foundational understanding of key concepts.
- Session 2 enhanced participants’ video-making skills, teaching them how to use smartphones for content creation, upload videos, and utilise keywords and hashtags. This session set the stage for seniors to create five DIY videos to be shared on social media and the S4C platform.
- Session 3 explored how seniors can turn their DIY hobbies into small-scale sustainable businesses. Participants shared their video-making experiences, discussed challenges, and received guidance on monetising their skills while maintaining environmental responsibility.
The training was met with great enthusiasm, particularly in the social media and video-making segments. Participants were eager to learn, and the sessions fostered both skill development and community engagement. Stay tuned for participant stories and DIY videos coming soon on the S4C platform!
